Here's how to power through bad news, depression, SAD, holidays, addiction, bad weather, bills, September 11th fallout, war, Hurricane Katrina, etc.:
- laugh, and keep laughing
- reward yourself. Here are some ideas
- party up, invent reasons to celebrate
- increase your exposure to light
- surround yourself with bright colors at home, work and wherever you spend time
- decorate and paint dark areas with bright colors
- create well-lit areas
- set up plenty of "bright" lights
- wear bright colors
- GET active, up & out
- exercise
- start a business
- play sports
- walk (power "speed" walk, use the stairs, skip elevators, park further away, walk after meals, etc.)
- find a hobby
- learn a new trade
- take classes, courses and seminars
- volunteer
- socialize freely & frequently
- join clubs, associations, support groups, etc.
- have people (friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues, etc.) to talk to
- visit them
- call them
- e-mail, chat or IM them
- don't be a couch or mouse potato
- stay cool / warm: make sure all living and work areas have a nice climate and are properly ventilated
- don't succumb to traffic jams and road rage
- avoid things that depress you
- movies, music, people, places, food, etc.
- limit stressful activities
- count your blessings. Think of those less fortunate than you and people less successful or less healthy than you
- lucky YOU. Think about what may have gone wrong (in your life, health, career, business, relationships, etc.) but didn't
- don't let other people's (family, clients, friends, colleagues, BOSS, etc.) bad mood bring you down

- avoid turning to alcohol and drugs
- change your surroundings
- center yourself / get spiritual
- meditate, pray, go to church, etc.
- eat right and at regular intervals

- don't worry, be happy!
